BYETTA®, a drug used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes, has been linked to serious, life-threatening conditions including acute, hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis, altered kidney function, kidney failure, and in some cases, death.
Approved for use in the treatment of type 2 diabetes in 2008, BYETTA® (the brand name for exenatide), is part of a class of drugs known as incretin mimetics and is administered via subcutaneous injection. Numerous patients have experienced serious side effects after taking BYETTA®, including various degrees of pancreatitis, hyper/hypo glycemia, severe allergies, severe dehydration, altered kidney function and kidney failure, the most severe of which have, in some cases, resulted in death.
