Biography
Christian Barton joined Morris, Sullivan, Lemkul & Turtzo LLP as an associate attorney in October, 2017, and became a partner as of January 1, 2024. Mr. Barton advises and represents clients in the areas of complex civil litigation, class action, personal injury, environmental law, bankruptcy law, insurance defense litigation, and gaming law. Mr. Barton also represents appellate clients in the foregoing legal areas, and is the co-author of an appellate brief which resulted in a per curiam opinion from the Nevada Supreme Court in favor of his client. Mr. Barton has had the pleasure to serve as general counsel for businesses headquartered in California and Nevada, including a large, regional petroleum distributor; one of Las Vegas' premier resort and casinos; and, a rising Southern California brewery. In his capacity as corporate counsel, Mr. Barton has represented businesses before the Nevada Gaming Commission, California Labor Commissioner, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
Prior to joining Morris, Sullivan, Lemkul & Turtzo LLP, Mr. Barton was an associate for an Inland Empire law firm, where he focused primarily in areas of personal injury and employment litigation. Mr. Barton has also served as an adjunct professor at California Western School of Law, teaching Advanced Legal Analysis classes to second-year students.
Mr. Barton earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from the University of California, Irvine. Thereafter, he obtained his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude, was an associate editor of the California Western Law Review, competed on the trial team, served as a volunteer small claims court mediator, and received numerous academic awards.
During law school, Mr. Barton also externed with three judges in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, and with the late Justice Alex C. McDonald of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division One.
Mr. Barton is admitted to practice law in California and Nevada, all U.S. District Courts in California, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.
