Construction workers in California and elsewhere may face a variety of safety hazards while operating at the site of a new project. With heavy duty machines transporting materials across the site, the threat of falling objects remains an ever-present concern for many workers. A recent construction accident in which materials fell off the top of a pylon has reportedly claimed the life of a construction worker in another state.
Fatal accident
According to reports, the incident took place on a recent Tuesday morning as workers were operating at the site of a new interstate project. Reports indicate that workers were driving pylons into the ground when for reasons unknown, unspecified objects suddenly began to fall from the top of a nearby pylon. These objects fell from heights of more than 20 feet and one of the objects hit a nearby worker on the head.
Emergency responders advised that the worker was transported to a nearby medical facility after going into cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away after arriving at the facility. Although officials have advised that an investigation into the incident has been initiated, no further details were provided as to what might have caused it to occur.
Loss of a loved one
A construction accident of this nature runs the risk of leaving family members mourning over the sudden loss of someone close. Although the grieving process may ease with time, end-of-life expenses and loss of wages could cause family members to experience dire financial challenges that could have a lingering impact on their lives. Following the incident, a person in California could find it helpful to consult with an attorney for advice on all his or her available options and assistance in pursuing the full amount of compensation achievable through all applicable sources.
